The City of Indian Wells has a number of commissions, committees or boards on which citizens serve and make recommendations to the City Council in an advisory capacity. Brief descriptions of the various commissions, committees and boards are listed below.
Resident members must be registered voters of Indian Wells to serve.

Members are appointed by the City Council for two years terms and are eligible to serve two, two-year terms (4 consecutive years on any one commission, committee or board). Terms begin on July 1 and end June 30 two years later. The Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control Board is the exception, their two year appointments run on a calendar year basis, January through December.

Any unscheduled vacancies on any commission, committee or board due to resignation or other unforeseen events will be filled as soon as possible. A notice requesting applications will be advertised in the Desert Sun and posting on this website.

All public officials, include commission, committee and board members, must file annual conflict of interest forms with the City Clerk’s office as required by State law. The forms require disclosure of information about income, business and property interests in the city, and gifts. As to income, officials are required to disclose sources, but not exact dollar amounts. In addition, recent state law requires officials to have two (2) hours of training every two years on ethics.
